"End of the Dirt Road"

That boy could drive me, So close to insanity
We'd battle and disagree, I slammed a few doors
I have never seen another, Child so damn stubborn
Become a nice young man, Like this before

At end of the dirt road, Is the start of the highway
Life may get harder but easier to steer
Watch the horizon, For signs of the future
Foot to the pedal and an eye on the mirror

The house is no longer, Littered with legos
Tinker toy swords, Only in photographs now
No speeding tickets, No drugs or drinking
Such fortunate parents, We sure don't know how

At end of the dirt road, Is the start of the highway
Life may get harder but easier to steer
Feel the connection, Family can give you
Foot to the pedal and an eye on the mirror

Honor roll student, Sang songs with his family
Piano and guitar, Black belt, Lacrosse
Funny, but that stuff, Was not on my mind when
I sat down to write here, Of senior year cost

At end of the dirt road, Is the start of the highway
Life may get harder but easier to steer
Feeling the freedom, And dance with abandon
Foot to the pedal and an eye on the mirror

We’re all on a new path, some more and some less
It took such a long time, But happened so fast
Still have the memories, Photos and movies
Look to the future, As well as the past

At end of the dirt road, Is the start of the highway
Life may get harder but easier to steer
Watch the horizon, For signs of the future
Foot to the pedal and an eye on the mirror
