"58 Archtop"

A 58' archtop harmony
When I was twelve I named it melody
Stuck behind me on a three speed bike
We became the best of friends

All one summer learned to play
Then neck began to crack and sway
Borrowed a brand new Yamaha FG
From my Uncle Bill

The music would take me home
The music would set me free
The music of angels singing in the dark
The music of you and me.

I grabbed a hold and did not let go
The best companion I could ever know
Lean my chin upon the side to feel
The music in my head

Slipped one night on the bedroom floor
Floyd was crushed didn't play no more
Credit card bought a new Applause
It really took abuse

The music would take me home
The music would set me free
The music of angels singing in the dark
The music of you and me.

Noah retired a few years back
So many others taking up the slack
Like children gathered in the vestibule
They wait for me to play

I found another archtop harmony
And I returned it to the melody
Reminds me daily of how far it's been
And point the way ahead

The music still takes me home
The music still sets me free
The music of angels singing in the dark
The music of you and me.
